The rods are Carillo 6.500" H-beams; these are more Busch/ASA circle track parts. The 6.500" length makes a turbo dished piston a tight fit but they're the most common quality rod available and like Smokey Yunick says, "Use the longest rod that will fit...."

In this picture they are just returned from the balance guy (Johnny B. who merits a whole page by himself!) and the shiny spots on them are from the weight matching. The SPS-Carr bolts in them are about the best available, I'm told. They've been re-sized and re-bushed as well; the small ends take a .927" SBC style pin, which allows more (and cheaper) pin choice.

13 December update:

I wish I didn't need an update..grr! We checked the rods for roundness the other night. They were bad...very bad. The best one was .0006" out of round. Several were more than .001" out of round. We spent a good chunk of one day re-sizing them (again! $@#^%!!) and trying to make them right. 5 of them are now great (they repeat to within .0002") and one's borderline. I am hunting for more rods and expect I'll have it resolved shortly.

17 Feb. update:

I got several rods thanks to the kindness of fellow TB.com members, and we were able to weight match one and resize it, so the rods are done.
