Here's the crank; it's a Buick Motorsports piece with a 3.632" stroke.
Before I found this crank I read numerous places that the biggest stroke you
could get with these forgings was 3.625". I'm not sure why this one's bigger..
maybe the crank grinder was just feeling lucky that day.
In these pictures the crank has just returned from the balancer. He leaves 'em ugly but the balance work is dead on. He's an old guy working in a home shop, but he does about every race motor around, including some of John Gullett's Pro 5.0 stuff. I hope he doesn't read this and hit me the next time I see him.
Note the Mallory metal in the front and rear counterweights; you're looking at $190
worth of that stuff to internally balance this crank; it'd never been balanced before.
You can also see how the front counterweight has been angled to clear the block's internal
pickup. The dark coating on the journals is the grease he coats the crank with to spin
it while balancing.
