I farmed out one job on the car: the installation of the cage. The guys at The RaceCar Factory did a the cage, got it certified, and finished the mini-tubs for me..all in one week. It's people like that who make me realize just how slow I am.

To be legal on the G-body, a cage has to go through the floor to the frame. I wanted a useable rear seat and needed to strengthen the rear upper suspension mounting points after notching the frame, so I had them put the rear cage bars through the trunk floor and welded them to the top of the suspension crossmember there. One more nice touch is the bends in the door bars; they clear the door panels and leave more room for your legs than the straight bars in some kits.

I opted for no swingouts since I wanted maximum stiffness in the car; I figure my grandmother won't be climbing in too often so I can live with the bars.
